Visited the Kyoto National Museum on 29 Jan, 2003. Surprised how small the site is compared to one in Tokyo and even compared to another one in Nara.

It was soon after the special exhibition was over and so the main building was closed. I understood that and stayed calm up until I entered the NEW building (next photo), where a small part of their collections were on display.

I was so amaized and disappointed that the building was so out-of-date. One of the fluorescent was flickering inside the showcase. Couldn't believe my eyes. Is this the National Museum in Kyoto, where the city is the treasure of Japan???

This is me.

It was so cold out there that I got freezed after I went through the museum. I guess as the city itself is so rich in culture and tradition that anything loses its aura inside the museum. Those who are in charge of museum administration should seriously think about their situation.
