One of the best seasons

It is the season I like most in Kyoto. Early summer, just before the rainy season. I love the green of the city. This is the Kiyomizu-temple. Our national treasure.

Leap in the dark

The Kiyomizu-temple is famous for "Kiyomizu no butai kara tobioriru," which means "I was a leap in the dark." I heard someone saying there were some who actually throw themselves from the temple.

Gion

Maiko-san, an apprentice geisha girl was posing for amateur camera men. Her green ornamental hairpin is representative of the season and makes you feel early summer. I love it.

The Shirakawa district

The Shirakawa district in Gion is one of the preserved areas where you see all these bars and restaurants. It is not that expensive. In Kyoto, there are many interesting places only Kyotoites know.

Ichiriki, the Teahouse

One of the famous Kabuki plays, "Chusingura" made Ichiriki famous. In the reality, Oishi Kuranosuke was fooling around in a different place, I heard. This was one of the most prestigious teahouses in Kyoto. Admission was a privilege only a select few had but unfortunately it went bankrupt, didn't it?

Beautiful in the rain
When we arrived at the Gisho-ji (Ginkaku-ji) temple, we had a shower, which made the temple beautiful. You should see the Rokuon-ji (Kinkaku-ji) to make a comparison. The Ginkaku-ji was founded in 1482.

Guess how old he is
The age of this podocarp is 500 years. My friend pointed out why 500 years old despite the sign, "Chiyo no Maki,"a podocarp of 1,000 years, literally translated. "Chiyo" also means very long time!
