I was brave enough to visit one of the most famous Koyo (colored leaves) spots in Kyoto, the Tenryu-ji in the Arashiyama area. It was crowded but not as bad as I expected. All these photos were taken in the admission-free areas. I heard that the leaves did not turn out perfect this year. Still you may enjoy the autumn in Kyoto.
Photo Top Home Traffic jam Outside the temple, you will face the fact that Kyoto is the No.1 tourism spot in Japan. This is the road just in front of the temple. Try to use trains and subways wherever you can or you will be caught in a traffic jam. The traffic is not bad at all in Kyoto except for Autumn (maybe Spring), though.
