If you have time, you should definitely visit Nara. (Have I said this before?) Kyoto is old but Nara is ancient. The problem is temples and shrines are not conveniently located for tourists. Yet, those "go-shintai" deers welcome you in Nara. Great Buddha Hall (right) is a national treasure.

Virocana Buddha

Virocana Buddha (known as "Nara no Daibutsu" in Japan) is 14.98m(48.91 ft.) in height. You cannot miss this buddha. The gentleman right next to him is one of his gardian deities. Forgot the name. (^^;;;

Nara National Museum

Nara National Museum is famous for Buddhist art. In my very personal opinion, it is much better than Kyoto National Museum. The Old Main building (left) and Museum shop (right).
