Finally I was in Wakkanai, the northernmost of Japan. ANA hotel cut a conspicuous figure.

Wakkanai Station is located at the very terminal of JR Hokkaido.


Here comes the train arriving at the northern end of Japan.


Cape Nossyappu. The wind was amazingly strong and my favourite hat was blown off. Fortunately, I got it back.


Can you see the Mt. Rishiri at the back of the sign?


Look at the colour of the sea. It is completely different from the Ishigaki Island and Yakushima Island.

The wind power generation. Wakkanai is the Wind City, which reminds me of Chicago.


Wakkanai is the only city where all the Self-Diffence forces, Army, Navy and Air Force are stationed.


Wakkanai Park. The stature shows grief of people after losing Sakhalin.

Can you believe the moving Wakkanai Post Office! Of course, I bought some stamps.
